I spent over a week going through just the course itself.

But don’t worry, if you still feel at a loss there is so much information in the specialty modules and expert series.

By the time you have gone through all of those you will be well onto your way of putting all of the screaming and fighting behind you.

  • Homework
  • Chores

This program will also be a great asset to teachers and early childhood educators looking for positive ways to manage behavior in the classroom!

Before taking this course I felt pretty confident in my parenting skills.

I studied child development, psychology, behavior management and speech-language pathology in University.

I would never say my parenting skills are perfect, but my schooling definitely helped with that skill set.

But, I must say, after taking the Positive Parenting Solutions course I realized that I really didn’t know everything.

I was already implementing some of the tips and strategies that Amy shares, but I also learned so many new tips!

I applied the advice as I went through the training.

After only 3 days there was a noticeable difference in how my children responded to me and also how I talked to and engaged them.

What You Need To Know About Positive Parenting Solutions

Amy McCready – Founder of Positive Parenting Solutions

Amy McCready founded Positive Parenting Solutions over 10 years ago.

Amy is a mother and parenting educator who realized that she was a parent who was always yelling and battling with her kids.

Amy decided that she did not want to parent this way.

Therefore, she took several parenting courses focusing on Adlerian Psychology and positive discipline.

These courses helped her develop her own program which evolved to become Positive Parenting Solutions.

You may have seen Amy in the media as she is a regular guest on the Today show!

What Is Taught In The Program?

The whole premise of the program is to parent with positivity and respect.

Instead of yelling and constantly battling with your child, Amy teaches parents how to change their own attitudes and behavior.

This program is aimed at parents whose children are between the ages of 2 to teens.

It is a large age range, but the tips and tricks that are taught are valuable for a child anywhere in this age group.

Each strategy can be tweaked to be appropriate for the age of your child.

The classes are offered online at your convenience.

You simply log into your account and watch whichever lesson you would like, access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Amy also offers members Question and Answer sessions during the week and on weekends.

In addition there is a members only Facebook page and  live webinars for those purchasing the Gold Package.

Take a look at this video for a quick tour of the online course

To summarize, this program will help you with parenting issues such as:

  • Learn why children really misbehave and how your parenting style may contribute
  • Reduce family stress and keep things organized – how to be a happy, healthy and respectful family
  • Get tools to help deal with whining, helplessness and bad attitude
  • Master how to parent without nagging, yelling and constantly reminding your child(ren)
  • Teach your kids how to resolve sibling rivalry on their own
  • How to get kids to do chores around the house, as well as the do’s and don’t around allowance
  • Find out how to hold your kids accountable through appropriate consequences
  • Gain insight into tools to stop power struggles including tantrums, backtalk, negotiating and being disrespectful

Amy also offers 1:1 coaching calls via phone or video chat.  These are at an additional cost.

An In Depth Look At Topics Covered In Positive Parenting Solutions

As I mentioned at the beginning of the article there is so much information at your finger tips once you have registered for this course.

Whether it be the Gold, Bronze or Silver Package.

Each session comes with a downloadable note taking guide, FAQ and recap of previous sessions.

Before you get started with the sessions, make sure to go through the introduction first.

Here is a glimpse at how simple it is to make the strategies taught in this course a success in your home!

about positive parenting solutions course intro

Session 1: Why Do Kids Really Misbehave?

You will have access to 6 videos, 2 articles and 4 interactive guides

You’ll also learn a bit about Alderian Psychology where one of the major premises is that children deserve dignity and respect.

Here’s an overview of the topics covered:

♦ Birth order and behavior

♦ Parent personality survey & results

♦ Ego states of personality

♦ Mind, Body & Soul Time

The key points I took away from the first lesson in the program is that children seek to belong and be significant, behavior is goal oriented and children misbehave when they are discouraged.

These points are so important that they make up the core concept of the Positive Parenting Solutions Program.

Here’s what the course looks like once you are a member.  It is extremely easy to navigate and work through.

Positive Parenting Solutions - a look inside this amazing parenting program!

Session 2: Encouragement & Training

In this session you get 11 videos, 4 handouts and 4 interactive guides.

This lesson challenges some widely held parenting paradigms such as:

Rewards motivate behavior – what parent or teacher doesn’t use rewards to get kids to “behave”?

Amy will show you why this approach Does Not work in the long term.

Giving allowance for chores – I am guilty of this.  I’m also guilty of withholding allowance when my kids refused to do their chores.

Since taking the course my kids no longer do “chores” but they still contribute to keeping our house running smoothly.

They also get an allowance that is in no way tied to their responsibilities around the house.

Amy does a wonderful job at articulating why parents need to move away from “chores” and getting an allowance for said “chores”.

But she doesn’t leave you hanging.

She provides tangible strategies that you can implement immediately.  And they work!

Some other topics covered include: negative ways parents use their power, praise vs encouragement, using a calm voice, training kids, and a few others.

If you decide to go with the gold or silver packages make sure to watch the 1hr and 15 minute training video on allowance specifically.  It was really eye-opening!

Session 3: Power Struggles & Consequences

In this session you’ll receive 8 videos, 3 articles and 1 interactive guide.

Power struggles have been an on again off again issue in my house.

Session 3 really opened my eyes to some of the things I was doing that probably did more harm than good.

I wish I would have gone through this program when my kids were younger as I resorted to Time Out too many times to count.

If you have tried time outs (over and over again) you probably know that they don’t really seem to work.

Well, Amy will tell you exactly why they don’t work and what you should do instead that is so much more effective!

Check out Session 3 to learn about power struggles, choices (proactive vs reactive), consequences vs punishment, helping kids develop emotional intelligence and why time out’s don’t work.

Session 4: Mistaken Goals Of Behavior

This session comes with 6 videos, 6 articles and 1 interactive guide.

Here you will learn about 4 mistaken goals of behavior – how to identify them and what to do instead.

Plus, if you are the parent of a tween or teen there is also information specific to dealing with mistaken goals and the 11+ age group.

Session 5: Sibling Rivalry

Here you have access to 7 videos, 5 articles and 1 interactive guide.

If you are sick of being a referee for your children then this lesson is for you.  I learned so many valuable tips and tricks.  I’ve already started implementing quite a few of them.

In this session you will learn about the impact of labeling children (no matter how innocent the label is – for example, “my child is shy“) plus 4 Solutions For Overcoming Sibling Rivalry.

If you are lucky and your children actually do get along or you only have one child, don’t rush passed this lesson.

There are still many tips that you can add to your parenting toolbox here.

Session 6: Family Meetings

This is the last session in the course.  You get 4 videos plus a detailed and interactive review of the parenting toolbox.

The parenting toolbox is where Amy adds each strategy that is taught.

This gives parents a quick guide they can easily look at when trying to figure out next steps when their child is acting out.

Here you will learn about the importance of having family meetings and what should be covered in the meeting.

You won’t be left hanging as there are plenty of examples for how to structure this kind of meeting and what topics should be covered.

Don’t worry, as boring as it sounds, Amy gives some great tips to make this a time that everyone looks forward to.

What Does All Of This Cost?

There are 3 levels to Positive Parenting Solutions (Gold, Silver, Bronze).  Each level contains the following:

About Positive Parenting Solutions

Free Webinar

I highly recommend that you watch the Positive Parenting Solutions FREE webinar.

Amy provides some great advice that you can put into action right away!

You will also learn information such as the fact that it is best to only use “consequences” with your child in 10-15% off all “misbehaving” situations.

I know that for many parents “consequences” are the go to form of punishment when their child is misbehaving.

Therefore, this technique is probably used much more than only 10-15% of the time.

Final Thoughts About Positive Parenting Solutions

In addition to the free webinar, there is also a comprehensive blog on the website with valuable information that can help you get started on the track of positive parenting.

Make sure to look at it!

I tend to stay away from high priced parenting programs but this is one that I have no problem recommending!

It is well worth the investment.

And it’s applicable to all families with children between the ages of 2-17!

Make sure to check out the Positive Parenting Solutions website for more information on some great positive parenting techniques!

Hello, I really want to first state how much I appreciate your efforts in putting this great website together and writing this article. Although I had to watch the video several times, I think this is one of the most crucial and beneficial articles I have seen in a while. I am definitely going to be sharing this article! Getting it right with our kids from a young age is very important.  In addition to myself, I know many other parents who could benefit from this article and the Positive Parenting Solutions program.  I can’t wait to check out the Free Webinar.

Wow this is a great review and I’m going to show my sister tomorrow. She could definitely do with this as she has 3 strong-willed boys. The course sounds informative and it seems to cover dealing with every aspect of behaviour.  Is there much difference between the different levels or would the Bronze be OK? Which would you recommend?

      Hi Alex,

The chart in the article best describes the 3 options.  The bronze level package gives pretty much the same information as the other levels, however you only have access for 1 year.  I would suggest your sister read the article and decide which package would work best for her.   All packages do come with a 30 day money back guarantee.  And the free webinar is packed with great information as well.

Thanks a lot for sharing this in depth information about the Positive Parenting solutions course.  I had no idea something like this even existed.

My child is 11 years old and goes to school like any child, but I often don’t like his behavior. I’ve read many articles about it, but this is the best I’ve read. I will definitely consider these tips and try out the free webinar.  You can’t go wrong when something is free!

Thanks again and I wish you all the best.

For sure, start with the Free Webinar.  I really learned a lot just from the webinar.  But the course is fantastic and can help as your son gets older and enters the teenage years.  This is often when positive parenting tips come in handy!

This would perfectly give a great way out to the issue of bad parenting here. I like the fact that you have broken down what this course entails and I must be honest, this is very commendable. Thanks. Personally, I will suggest this to a lot of people here because I see it as being very valuable for some of my colleagues.  They are often complaining about how difficult it is to deal with their children’s behavior.

Hi, and thank you for bringing light to my life, I really need to give it a try. Having to single parent is not easy specially with a kid with such strong personality. My 11 years old son is self regulated and very sweet comparing to my almost 8 years old son which has giving me a very hard time at home and at school. His behaviour is making him fell behind in school and is affeting his social life with his peers. I really hope you are bringing light to my family.

      Hi Irlene,

I’m sorry to hear you are struggling with your son and his behavior. Have there been any changes in his life recently or has this been going on for a while? Has the school given you any suggestions? Or have they recommended any types of assessments for your son? The positive parenting solutions course is very helpful. You will learn so many easy to implement strategies. And they have a 30 day return policy so if you decide to give it a try but don’t feel it is what you need to help your son you can ask for a refund.

Good luck and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

    Hi Tanya,

What a comprehensive review about the Positive Parenting Program!

I have seen ads for this program on social media and decided to do some digging.

Thank you so much for sharing all those valuable insights with us.

I will be discussing this matter with my wife and show her this review, but I am pretty sure that she will agree to purchase at least the basic package and give it a try… I mean: There isn’t much to lose, especially with that 30 day money back guarantee, is it?

      Hi Chris,

I’m glad I was able to provide you with the information you needed to learn more about the Positive Parenting Program.

It really is wonderful and will help shed so much light on many issues parents face when disciplining their children.

And yes, the 30 day money back guarantee really makes it easier to take the plunge.

But I really doubt you will be asking for your money back!

Would you say that this is worth the price if I have two teenagers, and one is almost to that upper limit of 17? I haven’t had many problems out of either child at this point, but I do feel like I need to study better parenting skills before my son hits high school next year. He’s the more outgoing of my two, and I have some concerns that he’s going to cut loose more than my daughter did LOL Anyway, do you think this is worth the price tag if I don’t have younger kids?

    1. Tanya (Post author)

      Hi Theresa,

Thanks for your comment.  I do think that you will probably learn some great strategies even with teens!

You could try the most basic package, I don’t think you would need the lifetime one at this point.

Also, there is a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you do start and find it won’t help you much you can ask for your money back!

I have seen advertisements for this program on Facebook, and I was curious about how it works. Thank you for breaking down everything that is included in the program and how it works. I have a much better understanding of what I will get for my money which looks like a lot! My daughter is pretty well behaved until her temper gets the best of her, so that is what we are working on with her now.

Yes, I see the ads for Positive Parenting Solutions on Facebook as well.  Since this program is over $100 it’s not something that most parents will purchase on a whim.  However, the information provided is truly amazing and well worth the price tag.

I love that the advice Amy McCready provides is applicable to parents of toddlers, preschoolers, school aged children and even teens.  So if you were to purchase it because you are struggling with your toddler, know that it will also help you in years to come!

Thank you for this info. These lessons appear to cover a lot. I’m not sure if my child is a normal toddler or is more willful and I worry that I’m either over correcting or letting too much go all the time. Also, her father is a difficult person whose narcissistic tendencies came out later in life after he had kept them hidden for a while. I wonder if there is a way of knowing if she may have that herself.

Does your book discuss/gauge what is normal and when a parent should investigate further? Also, I have bought a parenting lesson in the past only to find it wasn’t right…what is your return policy?

Perhaps my article Praise or Encouragement: Here’s What Kids Need! will be of some help to you.

As for the Positive Parenting Program it really is amazing and I do not think you will regret taking it.   They do also offer a 30 day money back guarantee.   But I don’t think you will need it.

I am not sure what book you are referring to.  The Positive Parenting Solutions course is all done online.  There are handouts that you can print out, but there is not book.

The sessions on sibling rivalry and family meetings sound the most interesting. Kids unfortunately don’t come with a handbook and so we as parents do the best we can mostly with what we experienced growing up. Sometimes some outside advice and tips and tricks could be just the thing that turns our situations around. This sounds like an interesting curriculum. Thanks for sharing it!

    Hi Tanya,

The positive discipline method, I believe is the best way to assure our children’s healthy emotional growth. But, like you suggest, sometimes we need to apply positive discipline starting with ourselves.

Most parents’ busy schedule makes me think that positive parenting may be more like a wish than a reality for many, unfortunately.

But from what you have written it sounds like the positive parenting solutions program lays it out for parents in a step by step way that anyone should be able to follow.

I am sure this type of course will be an asset to many parents out there.

      Thanks Millie,

Trying to parent in a positive way does take more thought and planning than reactive parenting which is often why many parents react to their child’s misbehaviors in negative ways, such as screaming and time outs.

I love that the Positive Parenting Solutions course goes over everything a parent may encounter in a step by step way.  There were times when I was taking the course where I thought, “well that’s great, but my kids do this…”  Luckily Amy McCready had an answer to all of my questions!

Its called consistency, unconditional love, and explaining to them on their own developmental level when behaviors have to be addressed about cause and effect or choices and consequences. My 5 yr old is stubborn and would rather go without dinner and sit in timeout for 4 hours instead of just apologizing and talking it out about why and what choices were made and what can be done next time to not have mommy have to flip shit AND JUST FOLD THE CLOTHES YOU TORE OUT.

You know better if you don’t listen it costs you toys, privileges, and even basic necessities if it takes that. Sweets and toys, stickers, candy, pop, ice cream are treats and privileges for children that listen the first time told and don’t throw a tantrum, whine and make mommy have to get mad. My 5 year old kept getting in the dresser tearing things out and not putting them back. I took all her clothes away but 3 pair of underwear, 3 pair of socks, 5 bottoms and 5 tops, one coat and she was left with her old shoes. A ll the rest clothes and new shoes were bagged up, I told her she had a week to apologize, and explain what happened and why I took her things away or I was donating them to children that didn’t have the luxury of being blessed like she is and will appreciate her clothes.

And guess what; three days later she finally came around by her own choice and realization from thinking about it and apologized, picked up, folded and put away all her clothes I took away, and could tell me at 5 where she went wrong, why mommy did that, and how to make a better decision next time which she decided was to not get everything out at once and just ask for help instead of refusing straight up and throwing a tantrum over nothing.

Just got to stick to what you say and follow thru the moment they know your bullshitting your done forever not ever getting that child to alter their behavior. Teach them right from wrong from infancy and not start at school age, middle school, or high school and guess what they turn out to be some damn awesome people.

My 5 year old is empathetic, has understanding and comprehension skills of a 10 year old, but she also has a childhood any kid would dream of. I play with my kids and give them experiences. She appreciates what she has because she knows shes more fortunate then others, and even has had etiquette since three using please, thank you, and sorry, excuse me. GET OFF YOUR PHONE AND COMPUTER AND PARENT, ENJOY THEM, EDUCATE THEM, GUIDE THEM, KNOW YOUR CHILD AND ITS NOT THAT HARD TO MAKE PARENTING THE GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT OF YOUR LIFE BY RAISING A GOOD, MORAL, COMPASSIONATE, TOLERANT, KNOWLEDGEABLE, ADULT TO LEAD THE SHEEPLES OF the PROBLEM CHILDREN who were ignored as kids.

My 5 year old knows I love her on her bad days and moments the same as when shes good and the same as her sister. Everyone is equably valuable to the family and as a family member gets responsibility to contribute. She plays with her sister for a lil bit to help so mommy can cook dinner, folds her own clothes puts them up, helps make sure her sissy has a sippy when we leave, empty the dishwasher twice a week, pick up after her self, and feeds and waters her dog everyday.

Letting kids grow up with no responsibility, chores, developing those basic life skills, hygiene (on by their own free will and want) etc while giving them everything they want but time with you is why we have a generation of entitlement.

Life is about choices and consequences, and holding yourself accountable for your own choices, If you don’t like the outcome then you need to make a better choice, kids just need the guidance and help in learning to think up more creative solutions and choosing whats right over what the want or would be ashamed of others knowing about. My 5 year old sets the standard for her younger siblings, and will be the one raising my grandchildren one day I want to ensure she has the skills and experience to pass on the values I taught her and my grandchildren have the coping and grow up to live a purposeful life with integrity.

Thanks for sharing. Parenting really can be so very difficult especially in today’s society. My first thought is that there are so many outside influences on our children nowadays that it can be hard to combat the negative influencers. I agree that yelling and nagging children constantly just doesn’t work long-term and it seems to actually cause some aggressive behavior after a while. Positive parenting solutions looks like a great program, I will definitely be looking into this. Do you have any resources on co-parenting with an ex? I would definitely love more information on that =)

Hey there, I was just researching homeschooling activities and stumbled onto your page. And glad I did because we also incorporate play into our learning activities which makes the actual learning process much more effective. It is much easier learning about something interesting, and we use this philosophy with our routines and it has worked well. I am glad to see there are other like-minded parents out there. I will be back again, hopefully you will be putting up some homeschooling info for older children? I would love to get your take on that topic as well. Thank you

Hello and good day, I have taken the time to read and explore your web site. I found the topics to be exceptional and I can definitely relate to having kids as I have a few of my own. I also have a shy kid or at least he was until he hit 13. At first my wife and I wondered if he would ever grow out of it. Anyway, I am impressed with the set up of your web site. It looks very professional, yet it has a feel of real comfort and you can tell by your writing that you are very educated in your field and really seem to enjoy working with children. As a reader I found myself trusting the information laying out before me. Your About Me page is really well written I felt like I was making a true connection with you.

I have a niece who will be needing some good advice as she has one newborn and one who is turning 1.5 years of age and I will be passing this web site onto her.

Thank you for creating this web site I see a wealth of knowledge and help with in it.
